How to revert to a previously saved backup AFTER
you have installed beta 9.2a:
1. Start LMD and open your normal database.
2. Click on the left panel item Lineage Database, then click on Database Maintenance.
3. Click on Restore Database from compressed zip. Click Yes, then locate a backup prior to Oct 19, 2013 (backups have the name format lmd-YourDatabaseName-Month-Day-Year.zip) Your backup will be where you saved it - often found in Documents.
4. Select the zip file and click Open and then it will restore the data and say 'Restore Complete'.

This is complicated, so read carefully:
Background: In the OLD LMD v1.x, each dog had a checkbox on the Titles tab that said 'Print this dog in red'. The effect of it was to print the whole line of text in the color red where applicable.
Title behavior: In version 2, the decision was made to allow you to set each title globally to a specific color of your choosing (most champion titles are preset to Red). The titles will appear as the color you choose, so if 'CH' is red, any dog that uses the titles 'CH' will show it as Red unless you override this action as outlined below. Just the text CH appears in Red. That remains in the software.
That title coloration can be overridden two ways:
When you edit a dog, on the General Info window, lower
right side, there are
now settings to control the color of the dog's name and
titles and anything else on the line of text in a report
(pedigree). What is new in this beta is the checkbox 'Make
whole line in reports match this color above'. If that box
is checked, the color in the box will be applied to the
whole line of text - the dog's name and any titles and
anything else. This is the equivalent of the old 'Print this
dog in red' box. If you want to let the titles assign their
own colors, uncheck the box and edit the color of the dog to
what you want, plus you have to edit the color of the
More details on how to do the coloration of the dog's name or the whole line of text are described in the box 'How to work make a dog's name appear as red (or any other color)'.
To make all text BLACK in a report (pedigree or other): On the Reports window, click on Report Settings. Then check the box labeled 'Force all report text to black' and press OK. This is a 'global' setting which means all dogs in reports are affected by it. To use colors as descibed below or to make titles appear in color, be sure this box is UNCHECKED.
To make a dog's name appear in red (or any other color), you have to work with each dog on an individual basis. What that means is every dog that you want the name to appear in red must be edited separately to be set as Red when printed or viewed in the Web Browser.
To change a dog's NAME ONLY to red (or any other color), leaving each Title at whatever color they are set at:
To change a dog's name, all titles, reg numbers and anything else on the line of text to red (ignoring the Titles color settings):
You must do one the above procedures for every dog you want to show in red. It's just like in the old program except with more control. Speaking of that, there is a new button to import the 'Print this dog in red' settings into your database from the v1 database. See Lineage Database/Database Maintenance/Re-import v1.x Database Dog in Red Settings. This button will disappear when the Betas are completed.
About importing a v1.x database - normally you get one try at importing. If you try to re-import, it will ignore all dogs found in your v2 database (matching those in the v1 database) so nothing is changed. The only way to fix that is to create a new database (I will be adding a way to erase the whole database too before the final release of v2).
However, since this issue of importing 'Print this dog in red' is so important because it can affect hundreds of dogs, I added a special button, only for the betas, that will let you re-import the Dog in Red settings: It's on the Lineage Database/Database Maintenance window, press Re-Import v1.x Database 'Dog in Red' settings. It will ask you the same question about how to process the 'Print this dog in red' settings, then proceed. Use the original v1.x database as input.
Beta 8.4 made changes to the date controls, but they needed improvement so changes were made in 8.5
The date controls on General Info and when editing a title or registration forced you to select a date. This has now been simplified. The 'X' buttons that cleared the date controls have been removed and the checkbox 'enable' has been changed to 'Date is Unknown'. If the box is checked, the date is forced to 12/31/1969 (zero) and it is greyed out. If unchecked, you can set the date to what you want (later than 12/31/1969). Note that the dates are localized meaning for non-US Windows, they will appear as you normally see them.
There is now an option to use either long form (Saturday, September 14, 2013) or short form (9/14/13) dates in the Reports/Report Settings window. This will affect all reports. Note that I've shown you USA Windows format, if in other countries, it will be localized in your language, ie. instead of 9/14/13 it may be 14/9/13 or whatever you are used to seeing.
The Dog Profile Report is NEW in this BETA.
This report shows detailed info about the dog. It also shows the dog's picture if you have added one and lots of details, plus the Sire and Dam info. If you want to show the picture, please be sure the Report Settings/Print Dog's Picture box is checked.
How to add a picture (image) for a dog
When editing a dog, press the Images icon on the left panel. Press Add New Image. Locate and select your .gif, .jgp or .png image and press OK. Then press the Set As Default Report Image button. There will be an acknowledgement line of text next to the button.
Font Sizes: just about any reasonable font size will do (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) and you can make the title font any font style you want - don't forget that!
Font Sizes: There are 3 fonts you can set for the reports (pedigrees). The Report Title can be fairly large and can be any style you want - Old English Text MT is a nice one. The Headings font is for headings like Call Name, Breed, Kennel Name etc. Recommend a size 8, 9 or 10. The Body Text font is used for the details like the dog's name or titles. If you are using a 5 gen pedigree, you may want to make it fairly small like 9 or 8 and if you get your pedigree running onto two pages, consider unchecking the Print Ancestor Titles box or Print Other Ancestor Registration Numbers. These things add extra text to each line and may make them wrap and cause things to run off the single page. The 4 gen and Dog Profile reports should not have this problem.
